About Us

Screen Nation has been at the forefront of acknowledging the best in Black British talent for over seven years. Founded by renowned film producer, Charles Thompson MBE, its primary aim is to acknowledge the achievements of those with the industry over the course of 12 months. Hosted by husband and wife team, Angellica Bell and Michael Underwood, the calibre of this year’s recipients promises to be exceptional.

The Screen Nation Foundation

The Screen Nation Foundation comprises of black British film and television professionals from all within the UK including actors, writers, directors and producers. Designed to empower and encourage diversity with the motion picture and audio-visual industries, The Foundation primarily agrees on the annual list of categories and nominees via a committee vote.

The Screen Nation Foundation is open to bodies and individuals committed to our aims and objectives: to be a resource to all and a professional association working with established industry unions, societies and associations to diversify their memberships.

Ad hoc research has shown that many BME professionals support the Foundation initiative and feel it can bring benefits and act as both a catalyst for further development of the sector and is a clear indication of the sector’s growing maturity and significance to the UK film & TV industry overall.

Current basic entry into The Foundation is through nomination for a Screen Nation Award. Entry regulations are being expanded to enable all qualifying black British film & television professionals to apply.

To express your support for The Foundation or seek further information please send an email to info@screennation.co.uk
