Celebrating Diversity - Rewarding Excellence

The Awards

Awards Night

Taking place on Sunday 18th Feb and set to be streamed on YouTube Live and Facebook Live, the 13th annual Screen Nation Awards ceremony will be held in the impressive Ballroom of the new million pound refurbished ILEC Banqueting Centre, very close to Premier League Champions Chelsea Football Club. The dazzling show will be hosted for the first time by SIMON FREDERICK, the gifted creative photographer artist and director, now TV personality who has made history in recent times with the National Portrait Gallery. Joining him will be KELECHI OKAFOR, the sensational fun-loving queen of twerk fitness and social media personality who definitely knows how to work the red carpet and bring the heat!

The 2018 international honoree is soon to be announced by the Executive Committee and as always will be legendary a star of many classic independent movies as well as huge Hollywood blockbusters. A truly unique talent still working in today’s movie industry.

Our highest UK honorees have been revealed, with honours being bestowed upon one of the UK's most venerable now sadly departed industry talents, the much admired and hugely respected actor LARRINGTON WALKER. To mark the untimely passing of one of the UK's top creative design talents Jon Daniel, two special honours will be bestowed bearing the key #AfroSupaHero motif he made famous. A first honour will be presented to writer/director Ryan Coogler and the whole cast and crew of the seminal Marvel movie BLACK PANTHER for their outstanding achievement in producing the film and the second honour goes to friend of Screen Nation and esteemed cultural historian TONY WARNER, founder of Black History Walks and a key commentator on film & TV and media.

Industry-backed Achievement Awards, presented by a host of well-known faces will recognize both audience favourites and emerging British film & TV talent. In the year since the BBC’s groundbreaking #BlackAndBritish season, the 2018 ceremony is guaranteed to feature the cream of the black British film & TV scene alongside established stars from the worlds of sport, music, fashion media and entertainment.

As usual sporting champions, Premiership footballers, music icons, top models, business leaders, entrepreneurs and a host of the biggest screen stars from home and abroad and many other top internationally recognised star names will be amongst the many surprise guest presenters bringing added black glamour to the night.

With the Red Carpet arrivals, BTS and Awards ceremony highlights set to be broadcast a few weeks later on a Sky based channel in the UK and Europe on DStv across the Africa continent and online across the world.

The ceremony takes place on the same weekend as the Film BAFTA’s and will be held in the presence of top British talent touted for future Oscar and Golden Globe success, Olympic and world sporting champions, titans of business and finance, crème de la crème of Nollywood alongside many more from the worlds of music, politics, media and high society.

As usual, the Awards hospitality will include a VIP Cocktail Reception with African canapes, a delicious W African themed Banquet and a fun-filled After-Show Ball with some of the best radio and club DJ's. The night will feature the cream of the black British film & TV scene alongside established mainstream stars from some of the UK’s most popular movies and TV shows.

The posthumous recipient of the highest UK honor, the Legacy Award will be Larrington Walker the recently deceased much-loved and hugely admired veteran screen star who made a highly important and significant contribution to the British TV, film and theatre landscape and is one of the most respected African Caribbean talents to have ever worked within the industry.
